Venue: The Council Chamber, The Old Fire StationWe are delighted to invite you to the first of this year’s Professorial Inaugural Lectures which will be delivered by Professor Alan Williams on Wednesday 30th October, commencing at 5.30pm in the Council Chamber at The Old Fire Station. 

Professor Williams has been at the University of Salford since 1995 and is currently Professor of Collaborative Composition within the School of Arts and Media.The lecture, entitled ‘Out of the Garret – the Composer as Collaborator’, will discuss the historical role of the composer and how social and technological changes have transformed the relationships involved in the creation of music. You’ll hear some music in which Professor Williams has taken a part in creating over the last 5 years, and details of future projects in which the audience has a hand in the creation of the work.This is a free event as part of our public series of lectures, which are open to all.
