The 3rd Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival is coming to The Comedy Store, Deansgate next week and we’d love to see you there.  This year’s event features an award ceremony where the best short film will be awarded with a £10,000 grand prize, plus various workshops in stand-up, sketch writing, improvisation and more. There will also be unmissable opportunities to network with some of the industry’s biggest movers and shakers.

Films shortlisted include:

·         Stranger Danger – Starring Prunella Scales (Howards End)
·         Ivan Blackberry – Sitcom pilot directed by Media Shorts prize winner Jason Wingard and starring Tom Binns (The IT Crowd)

The University of Salford has quite a presence at this year’s event. Dr Kirsty Fairclough, Associate Director of International Music & Performance is on the judging panel alongside people such as Steve North (General Manager: Dave, Gold and Watch), Jon Montague (Commissioning Editor of Comedy for Sky1) and Rebecca Papworth (Executive Producer: BBC North).

There is a University of Salford Comedy Showcase (28 October – 18:00pm, FREE) featuring sketch comedy, improve and stand-up from some of our funniest alumni, as well as a Comedy Improvisation Workshop (28 October 16:30pm, £3) where Comedy Practices lecturer Brianne Edge will teach you how to test funny ideas and create new characters.
